Bookkeeper — April 2013

ENC Strategy, a growing strategic communication agency in McLean, Va., is hiring a bookkeeper to help with a variety of accounting and general office tasks.

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

Accounts Payable

  • Enter POs and bills into QuickBooks
  • Maintain vendor/subcontractor files including addresses and W-9s
  • Prepare annual 1099s with Quickbooks
  • Cut weekly checks

Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare invoices for fee and reimbursable expenses in QB
  • Monitor accounts receivable status and make collection calls as necessary
  • Enter cash receipts/disbursement in QB
  • Track GSA billings and payments and determine applicable Industrial Funding Fee (IFF); prepare quarterly IFF sales and remittance reports
  • Process credit card payments
  • Deposits as necessary

Payroll

  • Process semimonthly payroll with ADP
  • Maintain employee physical files and keep employee records updated in QuickBooks/ADP/BigTime electronic time reporting system
  • Make sure timesheets are completed and approved in time for payroll and follow up with employees if needed

Other

  • Reconcile credit cards and help with other month-end tasks as needed
  • Prepare monthly use tax return
  • Prepare annual Fairfax County BPOL and tangible personal property tax return
  • Conduct fixed assets physical inventory annually and maintain fixed asset list in QB
  • Other tasks as assigned

General Office/HR

  • Administer benefits enrollments and terminations
  • Ensure all new employees complete I-9s and all are authorized to work in the U.S.A as evidenced by verification on E-verify
  • General office duties also include filing, copying, organizing
  • Answer the main phone line/checking the voicemail
  • Check general ENC email addresses
  • Order office supplies and organize maintenance calls
  • Liaison between phone/internet providers
  • Building management correspondence
  • Distribute and track building passes, keys, and parking passes; maintain online building pass authorization

Desired Skills & Experience:

Primary software:  QuickBooks/ADP

Preferred experience:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 1 year experience or associate degree with and 3+ years of experience.

Successful candidate must be deadline-oriented with a strong attention to detail.  Must also have the ability to multi-task and to work collaboratively with a team.

Knowledge of accrual accounting, Excel, QuickBooks and ADP is a MUST.

Graphic Designer — March 2013 

ENC Strategy, a growing strategic communication agency in McLean, Va., is hiring a Graphic Designer to work on exciting government and commercial projects, including websites, online and print campaigns and social media promotions. ENC provides a results-focused approach to traditional and digital communication and marketing services.

Responsibilities Overview:

The Graphic Designer is responsible for implementing online and print deliverables such as websites, static and animated banners, mobile applications, interactive applications, videos, print publications, exhibits, brochures, advertisements and animation. The ideal candidate must have an impressive design portfolio that includes a balance of print and online work, should be able to demonstrate comfort presenting to clients and will be energetic, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial.

Job Duties:

Print and digital graphic design

  • Uses strong visual storytelling and typographic skills to communicate business cases
  • Produces compelling brochure, direct mail, datasheet and similar designs
  • Develops and communicates the creative direction of projects with initial sketches, rough comprehensives or low-res wireframes, and high-res designs or mockups
  • Develops logos, style guidelines and other elements of visual branding systems
  • Develops strategically creative PowerPoint presentations
  • Creates precise, pixel- and point-perfect designs
  • Optimizes print files for 4-color process reproduction
  • Develops illustrations, diagrams and charts for use online and in publications, proposals and presentations
  • Creates short, animated videos using FinalCut Pro or similar products

Client and account team interface

  • Meets with clients, understands their expectations, suggests ideas and options, then develops creative approaches that help them meet their business or mission goals
  • Adds insightful and strategic value to creative work as well as client requests
  • Presents creative concepts to clients, ensuring that they understand the thinking and value they represent
  • Responds efficiently to client requests, revisions and changing requirements
  • Delivers all work product on schedule and on time
  • Coordinates with account directors, managers and coordinators to ensure all timelines are met
  • Maintains and organizes electronic and hard files for all work product

Additional experience that is preferred but not required

  • Assesses web design and development requirements in order to estimate level of effort for proposals and pricing
  • Develops information architectures, user interfaces/experiences, wireframes, high-res mockups and graphics for websites
  • Uses adaptive/responsive techniques to optimize website display and content for smartphones, tablets and desktops
  • Independently develops small HTML and CMS websites from start to launch (and can articulate the process)
  • Although finding an amazing graphic designer is our top priority, some combination of experience with any of the following is preferable: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, ASP, Perl, databases, hosting/web server administration, content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, ExpressionEngine, .NET or other), SEO
  • Compliance with Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Experience working within a creative agency
  • Experience working for government, technology and/or association clients
  • Experience developing apps

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Excellent oral and written business communication skills
  • Proven ability to multitask
  • Must be flexible and enjoy working in a creative, collaborative environment
  • Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail and quality
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products
  • Understanding of graphics requirements for social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, YouTube, etc.
