Calling all Communication Junkies! Are you good at explaining complicated things and communicating them in a way that everyone learns and understands? Great because ENC Strategy, a strategic communication agency in McLean, VA is hiring an experienced Account Communications Director that can create and manage internal and external communications directly for government IT organizations.

In addition to creating and managing communications for government organizations, the AD will set up the strategic direction for accounts, develop communications plans, manage the details related to implementing programs, manage budgets, supervise team members including graphic designers, junior and mid-level client team members, subcontractors and creative team members. The AD must have experience communicating about information technology initiatives and providing consulting services directly to C-level executives.

This person must not only be an effective manager, but also must be comfortable rolling up his/her sleeves and creating deliverables (e.g., marketing plans, social media content, editorial calendars, assessing websites, collaborating on messaging development, etc.). He or she will also lead or assist with business development initiatives such as presenting to clients and putting together proposals or statements of work.

Applicants should have a minimum of 10 years of experience. The AD will need to demonstrate flexibility and be responsible for working with the ENC team in a fast-paced, collegial, creative environment. The AD must serve as a client advocate and possess a strong client-service orientation, yet maintain awareness for ENC’s requirements. Only dependable, team players with positive attitudes need apply. Being fun-loving and flexible is a plus.


  • Bachelor’s degree – communication, public relations, advertising, journalism, marketing, or a related field
  • MBA and/or Project Management Professional (PMP®) or Project Management Institute (PMI®) certification preferred
  • Excellent oral and written business communication skills are a must
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Strong organizational skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Agency/Client Management – 6+ years managing client expectations personally or through a team
  • Communications – 7-10 years in a marketing communications and/or change management communications role
